A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 0 to 10. 9/10: A gusty breeze is the only bother, on an otherwise picture-perfect day. EXPRESS FORECAST Today: Mostly sunny, breezy, beautiful. Highs: Low-to-mid 70s.
Tonight: Diminishing winds. Lows: Near 50 to mid-50s.
Tomorrow: Mostly sunny. Highs: Near 80. View the current weather conditions at The Washington Post headquarters. FORECAST IN DETAIL Temperatures trend a touch cooler today. But after that, they’re on a steady upward trajectory through midweek, with midsummer heat and humidity Wednesday and Thursday, possibly lasting into Friday. A couple showers or thunderstorms may accompany the hot streak, with the weekend cooling off to more reasonable warmth. Today (Monday): We’re still on the breezy side and a bit cooler than yesterday. But mostly sunny skies help temperatures steadily through the 50s this morning, with beautiful afternoon highs in the low-to-mid-70s. Winds come from the northwest around 15-20 mph with gusts near 30 mph. Confidence: High Tonight: Winds diminish this evening, and temperatures cool nicely under mostly clear skies. We’ll look for lows near 50 to the mid-50s. Confidence: High Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for the latest updates. For related traffic news, check out Dr. Gridlock. Tomorrow (Tuesday): We head warmer again Tuesday as a light but milder breeze develops from the west-southwest. That means highs topping out near 80 with low humidity. Add in mostly sunny skies, and we’ve got ourselves a winner! Confidence: High Tomorrow night: More humid air streams in as light winds start to come from the south. Skies should stay mostly clear with warmer lows in the upper 50s to mid-60s. Confidence: Medium-High A LOOK AHEAD A summerlike pattern sets up Wednesday and Thursday with high pressure off the Atlantic coast. Winds from the south-southwest pump in the heat and humidity, sending highs to the upper 80s to mid-90s (with dew points in the 60s). Can’t rule out an isolated late-day shower or storm either day. Lows Wednesday and Thursday nights only drop back to the upper 60s to mid-70s. Confidence: Medium-High A cool front nears the area by Friday, but we’re probably still on the hot and humid side, with highs somewhere in the mid-80s to low 90s. With the front potentially nearby, shower and storm chances increase just a bit, to around 30 percent. Friday night’s a little cooler than the previous two nights, with lows near 60 to the mid-60s. Confidence: Medium The front cools us closer to normal for the weekend, although we’re still fairly warm with highs aiming for the upper 70s to mid-80s. Too soon to tell whether there’s a legitimate shower or thunderstorm threat. Confidence: Low
